How It Works

Validate a template in three steps

Start from an example or paste your own.

01

Write your template

Pick a category and add the header, body, footer, buttons and variables.

02

Fix what’s flagged

Errors break Meta’s documented rules; warnings are common rejection or recategorisation risks.

03

Submit with confidence

Copy your text into WhatsApp Manager, or the JSON into the Cloud API.

Best Practices

Tips for getting templates approved

The most common reasons templates are rejected — and how to avoid them.

Number variables in order — {{1}}, {{2}}, {{3}} — and never start or end the body with one.

Give every variable a realistic sample value; Meta reviews your template with those examples.

Keep utility templates strictly transactional — any offer or upsell gets them billed as marketing.

Don’t ask for full card numbers, ID numbers or passwords in a template.

Avoid duplicating the wording of a template you already have — duplicates are rejected.

Add an opt-out (like a “Stop promotions” quick reply) to marketing templates to reduce blocks.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why was my WhatsApp template rejected?
Common reasons are badly formatted variables (wrong braces, gaps in numbering, or a variable at the very start or end), too many variables for the amount of text, missing sample values, content that breaks WhatsApp’s Business or Commerce policies, a wrong category, or wording that duplicates an existing template.
What are the WhatsApp template character limits?
Text headers can be up to 60 characters with one variable, the body up to 1,024 characters, and the footer up to 60 characters with no variables. Button text is limited to 25 characters and website URLs to 2,000 characters.
How many buttons can a WhatsApp template have?
Up to 10 buttons in total, including at most 2 website buttons, 1 phone number button and 1 copy-code button. Quick-reply buttons must be grouped together, before or after the other buttons. With more than 3 buttons, WhatsApp shows 2 and puts the rest behind “See all options”.
What is the difference between marketing and utility templates?
Utility templates are non-promotional messages about something the customer did or requested, like an order update or appointment reminder. Anything promotional, or a mix of an update and an offer, is marketing. Meta can approve a utility template as marketing if it contains promotional content, which changes what you pay.
Is the AI check the same as Meta’s review?
No — it’s an estimate that applies Meta’s published category rules. Meta’s own review makes the final decision.
Is this tool free?
Yes. The preview and validation run in your browser with no sign-up. The AI check is free with a fair-use limit.
